Paulina Lake from the rim of the Newberry caldera in central Oregon. A mountain that broke itself wide open and then, having nothing further to say, quietly filled with water. The tree on the right had been rimed by the wind overnight, every needle of it sleeved in white and standing out against the dark of the water below. A chandelier the night had hung and the morning had not yet got round to taking down.
