Racetrack Playa in black and white. Two and a half miles of cracked mud with absolutely nothing on it but the stones and the long tracks they have drawn behind themselves. It is the emptiest ground I have ever stood on. It is also, from end to end, entirely covered in the evidence of movement, and I cannot think of another place where those two facts are true at once.
