The northern end of Lake Garda, from the switchbacks above the town. The light comes down the length of the water through a haze that never entirely clears, so the far mountains arrive one paler than the next, like a thought being forgotten by degrees. I pulled over meaning to look for a minute. I was still standing there when the light changed.
