Improbable Snow
A fine art photograph by Justin Cooper
Joshua trees do not expect this. They are built for a country that goes a hundred and twenty in the shade and can forget to rain for a whole year, and here they stood in half a foot of snow with their arms up like people asked a question they cannot answer. The sky was being quiet and pink about the entire business. By ten in the morning it had gone, every trace of it, and the desert was pretending none of it had ever happened.
