Long Way Round
A fine art photograph by Justin Cooper
Southern Iceland, late in the light, on a road that takes twice as long as the map has the nerve to suggest. Glacial water on one side; on the other, that particular Icelandic emptiness that makes a car feel like an idea somebody once had and never quite finished. I stopped so often I lost the thread of the day entirely. Nobody arrives anywhere in that country on schedule. Nobody who has been there minds, and nobody who has been there is in any hurry to explain why.
