Mount Hood taking the last of the alpenglow over Trillium Lake, the summer spirea gone over in the foreground, the water doing its very best impression of glass. The reflection holds for about ten minutes at that hour and not a minute longer. Then a breeze comes down off the trees on the far shore, crosses the water, and the mountain breaks quietly into pieces, and that is the end of it until tomorrow.
