Oasis Found

Arches after dusk is something else entirely. I walked out with the bare minimum on my back to a piece of ground chosen for nothing but the sky above it, and found other people already there doing the same. Friends get made quickly in the dark. I collected a handful of tired travelers and set them lighting the arch on my word, a little flare against all that color. The rock holds its warmth for hours after the sun has gone. We lay back on stone still hot from a day we had already forgotten, and waited for the stars to come in.
