Calm Grandeur

Switzerland holds some of the most majestic lakes and falls I have come across, and a startling number of them have a castle on the waterfront looking thoroughly pleased with itself. Rain had been coming down all afternoon and the fog was going nowhere, and I very nearly left. Then the rain stopped and a calm came over that water that I have not met before or since, and the sky melted down into the lake until neither one owned its own color. I took the color out afterwards. It had already gone.
