Gold Behind Stone

The sun went down straight through the platform at Tahai, threading the one gap in eight hundred years of stone as though it had been asked politely. Thirty feet to the left and there is nothing. Thirty to the right, nothing. There is exactly one place on that whole coast to stand, and a few minutes in which to be standing there, and the men who set these stones could not have known that I would come. Or perhaps that is precisely what they knew. I have thought about that alignment ever since.
