A fine art photograph by Justin Cooper
The Coney Island boardwalk shuttered end to end, every sign still shouting at the top of its voice into an entirely empty afternoon. FRANKS. GAMES. THRILLS. Nobody at all beneath them, and nine feet of exclamation over their heads, and the sea going on regardless. I have rarely come across anything so cheerful that was also so sad, and I stayed much longer than I meant to.
