Feeding Level

Lying flat in the tall grass of the Yukon with a bull bison grazing a short way off, unaware of me, entirely at peace with his morning. Quiet is the scene. The perspective is the whole point. Down at the level of the seed heads, looking up, so the grass goes soft across the front of the frame and he comes out of it dark and enormous. In black and white the coat stops being brown at all and becomes pure texture. He never once looked up. I was extremely glad of that.
