Early evening, one moose, and a pond she had plainly decided belonged to her. Down went the head and up it came with half the pond attached, and a shake that reached the far bank. My presence brought all of her attention onto me at once, no aggression in it whatsoever, just a long assessment, and then she went back to drinking her fill. Enormous animals are frequently very undignified in private, which is one of the better secrets of the work.
