Neon Tiger
A fine art photograph by Justin Cooper
A tiger in neon behind a grille, and a doorway lit the color of a warning. Bent glass, trapped gas, a current run through the two of them. The identical trick they were performing a hundred years ago, still working, still faintly disreputable, still humming to itself on an empty street at one in the morning. I have never once managed to walk past one of these. I doubt at this stage that I ever will.
