Ninety-Sixth Street
A fine art photograph by Justin Cooper
A woman reading on a Manhattan platform while a train, a rush hour and a considerable amount of shouting went past her. She did not look up once. Not for the train, not for the shouting, not for me. There is a kind of composure available in that city and almost nowhere else, a thing you have to build for yourself, out of necessity, and she had every bit of it.
