The Norris basin under a passing thunderstorm, the field's own steam feeding straight up into the cloud until neither one of them would admit which was which. I stood in that for an hour, soaked through, entirely unable to tell weather from ground. Then a gap opened somewhere above and the sun came down through the whole arrangement at once, and for about ninety seconds the basin was lit from directly overhead like a stage.
